Headhunters Headhunters, by definition, focus on one of the techniques available to senior recruiters to find candidates to present for senior vacancies. How Headhunters WorkWhen given an assignment, a headhunter will typically start calling members of his or her network to ask them if they know of anyone who may be suitable for the position. If the headhunter can find suitable candidates from using this method, the search may stop. If not, the headhunter will have to take the search to the next level if they are to fill the senior vacancy. Traditional HeadhuntingA good headhunter knows that the most valuable candidates for a position are candidates who are performing well and are working for a company that competes with the company for which the headhunter is looking to fill a senior vacancy for. The headhunter would then find out which companies compete with the company he or she is looking to hire for. Then it's a case of researching who, within those companies, might be suitable for the position. This is often where the term "headhunting" is used, as the headhunter at this stage is often making calls into the organisation and speaking with people with whom he or she has no prior relationship with and hasn't been referred to.
